Extended Care Program
Serra Catholic School Statement of Philosophy
Serra Catholic School’s Extended Care Program will support and supplement the family by providing quality child care. The program activities are designed to enhance the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development in (within) children. Our qualified staff is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children. The Extended Care Program is guided by the philosophy of the school.

Purpose
The purpose of the Extended Care Program is to provide students supervision before and after school in a safe and caring environment.

Extended Child Care Programs
Public and private schools who sponsor and staff before and after school programs for school-age children are exempt from licensure. This exemption applies when all of the children are enrolled in the school.
Serra’s Extended Care Program is viewed as a natural extension of the school’s daily program. As such, the program is closed when the school is closed, including holidays, Christmas and Easter break, and summer vacation. However, the program is offered in conjunction with the summer school program.

Extended Child Care Program Objectives
The objectives for the programs are:
1.   To provide an extended care program in a Christian environment.
2.   To create a family bond between children of different age, grade and cultural backgrounds.
3.   To provide quiet time for the completion of homework assignments. The staff will assist children with their homework.
4.   To offer a variety of activities that enhance the school’s curriculum.

Admission Requirements
Serra Catholic School’s Extended Care Program will provide service for those students who attend Serra Catholic School. In addition, 15% of the students enrolled in the program may be from schools other than Serra.

Fee Schedule
The Extended Care Program is self-supporting and thus fees will be charged in addition to regular tuition. There are three payment options available.

The monthly plan is a flat rate for unlimited hours. The fee for those selecting the monthly plan is paid with the regular school tuition. Families on the monthly plan pay in advance for the upcoming month, thus, they are billed August through May.
      One Child          $270.00
      Two Children     $380.00
      Three Children   $475.00
      Four Children    $535.00

The hourly plan allows the family to pay for Extended Care as needed. The hourly rate is $3.15 for every 30 minutes, or $6.30 per child, per hour. The hourly plan does not offer a family discount. Family use of the program is totaled at the end of each month and billed accordingly. The Monthly Rate is most cost effective for families who use 42 hours or more per month for one child, and over 30 hours or more per month for two children.

Drop in emergency care rates are $8.30 per hour billed in half-hour increments.
Families using Extended Care on either an hourly or a monthly basis will be required to pay a yearly registration fee of $50.00 per student. For families using Extended Care on a drop-in basis, the yearly registration fee will be optional.
